Wood chips from stump grinding can be spread as mulch at no extra charge, or we can haul them away — your choice. Our commercial stump grinder chews the stump down 6–12 inches below the surface, turning it into wood chips. The remaining roots will slowly decompose over 3–7 years depending on the tree species. Grinding does not chemically kill the roots, but for most species the roots won't resprout once the stump is gone.
